JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged Dennis Privette, 66, Jonesborough, with various charges on July 31 including possession of methamphetamine.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, Privette is charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving under the influence, obstructing a highway, driving on a suspended/revoked license and violation of the financial responsibility law. All the charges stem from a call that occurred on the evening of July 31.
Deputies responded to a reckless driving call in the area of Old State Route 34 and Hall Road. They found Privette unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, which was still running and in drive, and blocking the roadway. Due to his condition, Emergency Medical Services transported Privette to the Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. Prior to being transported, deputies searched Privette and discovered a baggie containing six grams of a crystal-like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine.
Privette was released from JCMC shortly after 1 a.m. Aug. 1. He is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $3,000 bond. His first court appearance will be at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 2.
