Wayne Lamont Buckles, 78, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center of Elizabethton. He was born in Elizabethton to the late Eugene F. Buckles and Juanita Grindstaff Buckles.
Wayne retired from Ear Nose and Throat Specialist in Johnson City and was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Wayne was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed farming, fishing and country music.
Those left to cherish Wayne’s memory include his son, Dustin Buckles and his wife Jessica; three sisters, Vivian Hammonds and her husband Howard, Debbie Dotson and her husband Mark, and Barbara Lotshaw; a niece, Melanie Harkleroad and her husband Tim; two nephews, Nathan Arnold and his wife Shelley and Frank Arnold and his wife Caryn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A graveside service to honor Wayne’s life was conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center of Elizabethton for the love and care shown to Wayne during his illness.
