Jennifer Rebekah Phillips, 54, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from her residence. Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Foltz, and her paternal grandparents, Henry and Cora Foltz.
Jennifer Rebekah Phillips retired from the Carter County School System as a school teacher, having taught at Hampton Elementary. Jennifer had a love for education that began at an early age, having earned her bachelor’s degree in education from ETSU and later earning her master’s degree of education from Tusculum College. Following her master’s degree, Jennifer went on to earn her EdS degree in education from Lincoln Memorial University.
Jennifer was a member of First Christian Church in Johnson City. She enjoyed going to the beach with her family, riding in her convertible, spending time in the pool or anything that involved spending time with her loving family.
Those left to cherish Jennifer’s many wonderful memories include her mother, Charlene Tolley (Zeke) of Hampton, Tenn.; her husband, Douglas D. Phillips of the home; sons, Kane Phillips (Ellie) of Chuckey, Tenn., and Luke Phillips of Clements, Calif.; brothers, Andy Foltz of Kingsport, Tenn., and Steve Foltz (Leann) of Elizabethton, Tenn.; sister, Susan Chambers (Jeff) of Elizabethton, Tenn.; step-brothers, Stephen Tolley (Stephanie) of Elizabethton, Tenn., and David Tolley (SueAnn) of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jennifer Rebekah Phillips will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 29, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Josh Little, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Mike Imboden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Chambers, Steve Foltz, Stephen Tolley, Josh Foltz, Austin Fink and Jason Chambers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryne Baines, Zach Carter, Will Dyer and Nick Dudney. Those wishing to be a part of the service are asked to meet at Roselawn Memorial Gardens no later than 1:45 p.m. Sunday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in Jennifer’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
