Our beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Virginia M. “Jenny” Campbell, passed away at the age of 83 years with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, following a brief illness.
Jenny was born to the late Marion Cicero, and Iva Lee Edney McKinney on September 12, 1939 in the Shell Creek community of Carter County, Tenn. Joining the workforce, she had a remarkable career at various companies including Raywall Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Piedmont Airlines, and retired from USAir. Jenny was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.
Jenny was preceded in death by John Franklin Campbell Jr., her loving husband of 54 years, in 2015; brothers, Boyd, Rhonda, Roger and Roy McKinney; and brothers-in-law, D.C. Simerly (Barbara) and Odes Roberson (Mildred).
Survivors include: sisters, Mildred Roberson and Barbara Simerly; sisters-in-law, Valerie C. McKinney (Boyd), BJ McKinney (Roger), Frances McKinney (Roy) and Pat Luchtman (Kevin) of St. Claire Shores, Mich.; a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins that were like children to her; special friends, including Lois Foster and Helen Miller, and many others; and caregiver and companion, Vickie Musick.
The family would like to extend immense gratitude to all the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Hospice for the excellent care and companionship Jenny was provided.
Jenny’s family received friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the Oak Hall. A celebration of life service began at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of Pastor Marty Murr. A committal followed at Eden-Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesborough. Active pallbearers were Butch, Clay and Chace Taylor, Dylan Shepherd, Brian Rice, O.J. Roberson and Tim Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers were Sam and Jesse Collins.
