Darrell Clifton Blackburn, 71, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Agape Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Johnson City. He was born April 29, 1952 in Elizabethton to David Powell and Inez Blackburn.
Darrell was a 1971 graduate of Elizabethton High School and was retired from Kennametal, Johnson City. He was a Number 1 Cyclone Fan, attending all the games of basketball and football or anything else the Cyclones were involved in. He loved to hear the Betsy Band perform and listen to music of the ’60s.
Darrell was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Deloach Blackburn; two children, Jennifer Taylor and Jason Russell; and two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Kaleb Collins and Zachary Russell.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, in the Highland Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, will be Brandon Hodges, Chris Hodges, Robert White, Jonathan Grindstaff, Andrew Stonecipher, Jason Russell, Landon Duncan and Steve McLemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Janet and Damian Hill, Lena and Aaron Wells, Christy Hodges, Sandra Guinn and students and former students of Elizabethton High School. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Kenny Hopland for his support.
