Donald Eugene Williams, 93, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was born May 25, 1930 in Big Stone Gap, Va., to the late Alfonzo and Pearl Pierce Williams. He had lived in Carter County for a number of years.
Don served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Inland Container after 37 years of service and was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church. In earlier years he loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Eva Williams; three sisters, Gertrude Bradley, Reba Lane and Kathleen Cornett; and three brothers, Jack, Palmer and A.F. Williams.
Survivors include his brother, James Marion “Jim” Williams, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.
