Miss Firecracker pageant set for July celebrations

On Saturday, July 1, the city of Elizabethton’s Independence Day celebrations will include the annual Miss Firecracker Pageant.
“The Miss Firecracker Pageant is definitely a favorite to inspire patriotism in all,” said Amy Simmons, director of the pageant and reigning World’s Classic Ms. United States Tourism/Classic Ms. Universe All-Stars.
“This annual pageant will have open registration at the Covered Bridge stage from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The entry fee is only $15 and all contestants must dress their patriotic best. Anything goes. Casual, costume or formal. We encourage creativity, and most of all, having fun!”
The contestants will begin line up at 4:25 p.m., with start time at 4:30 p.m.. There will be six queens crowned from the following age divisions:

Ages birth-2
-
Ages 3-5
-
Ages 6-10
-
Ages 11-15
-
Adults aged 21 and up
Age-division queens receive a rhinestone crown and sash and all contestants receive a mini rhinestone tiara for their patriotic participation.
