JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Autumn Payne, 22, of Telford, and charged her with felony evading arrest on June 3.

According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to Corby Bridge Road in Chuckey after reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle and observed it to have an expired license plate. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle refused to comply and fled from deputies. After a short pursuit the vehicle was stopped at an address on Wilhoit Road.

Payne was the driver and deputies also charged her with financial responsibility law, no/expired driver’s license and operating an unregistered vehicle. She was transported without incident to the Washington County Detention Center. Payne’s bond was set at $11,000 and she appeared in Washington County General Sessions Court on June 5.
