JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Richard Arwood, 41, of Johnson City, on May 29, and charged him with aggravated domestic assault.

According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to a 911 call in the 300 block of Herb Hodge Road. They discovered Arwood sitting on the couch with an ax at his feet. According to the victim, Arwood threatened to kill her with the ax and she retreated to a bedroom and subsequently a bathroom after he broke through the bedroom door with the ax.

Deputies discovered multiple holes in the floor and walls of the home. Arwood was transported without incident to the Washington County Detention Center. He is being held without bond and his first appearance in court will be at 1:30 p.m. June 1.
