Three-star guard from Louisville
added to 2023-24 roster
JOHNSON CITY – ETSU men’s basketball landed three-star recruit Gabe Sisk (Louisville, Ky.), which was announced by first-year head coach Brooks Savage and his staff on Thursday.
Sisk, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard, comes to the Buccaneers after a decorated playing career at Ballard High School in Louisville, Ky.
“Gabe is a really talented young player who is wired to score in a variety of ways,” said Savage. “He brings great positional size at 6’5” and the ability to score at all three levels. Gabe comes from a great basketball background at Louisville Ballard where he played for a State Championship and won the Peach Jam with MOKAN on the EYBL circuit. Gabe is a hard worker, fierce competitor and committed to winning. We are excited to have Gabe part of our basketball family.”
Sisk scored 2,051 career points en route to finishing as the third leading scorer at Ballard. Sisk joined elite company at Ballard as Quentin Snider (Louisville) and Allan Houston (Tennessee) are the top two leading scorers in program history.
“I chose ETSU because I had a great visit and was impressed with the staff and facilities,” said Sisk, whose older brother played at John Logan Community College and UAB. “The coaches were genuine and felt like family when talking and spending time with them. I’m excited to help get the program back to where it needs to be.”
Sisk averaged 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game, while knocking down 78 three-pointers last season. The Louisville native shot over 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 73 percent at the free throw line. The two-time first team all-state selection was also a Mr. Basketball finalist and named Louisville Player of the Year.
For his career, Sisk helped guide Ballard to a 103-22 record, along with three Region 7 Championships and one Kentucky Sweet 16 appearance. Sisk will be part of the prestigious Kentucky All-Star Team this summer.
Sisk is rated as a 3-star recruit via 247sports, while 247sports Composite has him rated as the 29th best combo guard in the country and the second best in the state of Kentucky.
