Charlie John Hughes, 64, Bluff City, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023. He was born August 21, 1958 in Johnson City to the late Jack and Janey Fletcher Hughes.
John was a 1976 graduate of David Crockett High School, Jonesborough. He was employed at Pepsico in Sales and Delivery – Frito-Lay. John loved old cars, music, working out, hiking and animals. He loved to attend the Elizabethton Car Show.
John was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church but attended University Parkway Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Hughes, and his paternal grandmother, Marie Hughes.
Survivors include his son, Matthew Joel Hughes; a nephew, Jack (Sandy) Hughes; a great-nephew, Hunter Hughes; his ex-wives who were special friends, his caregivers, Sandra Hughes and Anne Hughes; and his fur buddy, Butch.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Thompson officiating. Music will be provided by his son, Matthew Hughes. The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Tennessee Cancer Specialists, his many friends for their love and support during his illness and friends and co-workers at Frito-Lay.
