STAR CORRESPONDENT
It wasn’t an ideal day for opening day of the City of Elizabethton’s Franklin Pool on Saturday but that didn’t keep a handful of water lovers away from the pool as the temperatures were in the low 60’s with overcast skies.
Some of the swimmers were trying to perfect their early season cannon balls while others were trying to get down their flips while enjoying the diving board area of the pool.
While the cool temperatures and cold water didn’t seem to impact the swimmers, it left lifeguards wrapped in towels with teeth chattering as they overlooked the pool area.
For those not brave enough to swim, the pickleball court was seeing plenty of action as the signs of summer are now in full view with all schools being out for the summer break which many know will take flight as the morning dew before its time to go back and start all over.
But for now it’s summer days and summer play!
