The area softball rec league tournament wrapped up this week with league championships to be claimed, crowds were big and excitement was in the air.
7-9 Age Division Results
Ravens 6 Peaches 5
In the most exciting game of the night, the Ravens pulled off a comeback to grab their spot in the league championship. Tied going into the bottom of the fifth Ava Waters and Zoey Porter hit back-to-back singles and then Ari Cann hit a line drive double that found its way into the outfield grass for the walk-off. The Ravens would have to rally in the game as the Peaches would jump out early to a 2-0 lead sparked by lead-off base hits by Kinley Crain, Caylin McQueen and catcher Sadie Hartsook.
For the Ravens, Paisley Green, Kaelynn Mullins would both go 3 for 3 in the contest.
Outlaws 7 Cyclones 3
A 2-2 tie would be broken in the top of the fourth inning as back to back to back singles by Sadie Moore, Sophia Humphrey and Naveah Thomas would plate three runs to break the draw. The Outlaws would collect 14 hits in the contest and be led by Sydnee Gragg, Brooke Witten and Caroline Presnell who would all have multiple hits in the contest. For the Cyclones, Annie Pate would go 3-3, scoring two runs, while Annalise Jenkins and Lizzie Phillips would both collect two hits.
The Outlaws and Ravens played in the League Championship the next day with the Ravens picking up a hard fought 11-9 win to claim the League Championship.
10-13 Age Division Results
Cyclones 11 Queen Bees 2
It took a little bit to get going but when the Cyclones bats got going, there was little to stop them. The Cyclones used a four-run fourth inning and a six-run fifth to put the Queen Bees away. Madelyn Blevins would start the fourth inning off with a base hit and then follow that up with a Daisy Parks double and base knocks by Eden Hatfield and Rylee Porch to spark the 4-run fourth; and open up a 4-2 game. Cambrie Ingram and Kaelyn Paraminter would also grab base hits in the game, Paraminter hitting an inside-the-park home run in the fifth to spark the big fifth inning.
For the Queen Bees Zoie Miller would hit a triple and score a run while Gracie Trivette and Emily Miller would both have multiple hits in the game.
Diamonds 9 Lady Landers 1
The Diamonds would get 21 hits in an offensive outburst and then play exceptional defense throughout the game holding the Lady Landers to just two hits in the contest. The Diamonds would be led by Valerie Holzer and Jennifer Mutier, who would both pick up three hits on the night. Eight different batters would pick up multiple hits for the Lady Diamonds.
For the Lady Landers, Summer Ollis got a hit and scored a run while Charlee Gibbs chipped in a hit.
In the League Championship that next night, the Lady Cyclones came out on top in a see-saw contest over the Diamonds 14-12, to claim the gold in the 10-12 age group.
