The Lady Rangers, who had won 31 District tournaments since 1981, came up short in this title game losing to North Greene 10-0.
A tough call at the plate in the first inning kept the Rangers from starting out in the lead. In the bottom of the inning, the Huskies would load the bases with no outs, but the Ranger defense hung tight and allowed no runs.
It would be the end of the third before the Huskies were able to get some runs on the board. They would score nine runs with 13 batters in the inning. Anna Weems was on base four times and scored the final run in the sixth for the 10-run rule. She led the Huskies going three for four at the dish.
Gracie Stout was on the mound for the Rangers and threw very well. Campbell Gaby pitched for North Greene and only faced 18 batters in the game. She allowed no runs on two hits and struck out six. Hailey Taylor and Stout both had a hit for Unaka.
Unaka 0 0 0 0 0 0 -0
North Greene 0 0 9 0 0 1-10
