Harvey Wayne “Bud” Lankford, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. He was a son of the late Harvey and Maggie Louise Kaylor Lankford and was born in Elizabethton on November 19, 1950. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill Taylor.
Bud was saved at the age of 67 at Mount Holston Baptist Church. He worked at East Tennessee Undergarment for 15 years and then as a Wal-Mart greeter in Elizabethton for 18 years. He loved watching wrestling and listening to gospel and bluegrass music.
Those left to cherish his memories include two sisters, Jo Etta Taylor and Linda Parrish (Lanny), both of Bluff City; a nephew, Travis Lee Taylor (Julie) of Pigeon Forge; two great-nephews, Jayden Taylor and Christopher “Topher” Taylor, both of Pigeon Forge; and his best friend at Signature Health Care, Clarence Matherly.
A gathering of remembrance for Harvey Wayne “Bud” Lankford will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Danny Hardin and Mr. Travis Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at noon Thursday, May 11, at the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Rusty Verran officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be his family and friends. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 11:45 a.m. Thursday.
