Vance Koch Johnson, 79, of Hampton, formerly of Wahpeton, N.D., passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born on March 10, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Vance was a United States Army Veteran, having retired after serving 21 years and completing five tours in Vietnam. He loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by two children, Vance Johnson (Robin) of Elizabethton and Tammy Stacey of Clarksville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Tabitha Curtis, Donny Carpenter (Jessica), Michael Carpenter (Nikki), Christopher Johnson, Kristen Greene and Jessica Schreiber; nine great-grandchildren, Donny Lee Carpenter, Christopher Allen Carpenter, Natalie Marie Carpenter, Zachary Carpenter, Seth Carpenter, Sydney Greene, Daizee Greene, Ella Schreiber and Amelia Nave; and special friends, Elizabeth Bladow, Travis Bladow, Harley Bladow and Stephanie Bladow.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eddie Stacey.
The family will hold the graveside service and inurnment at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section 53 Memorial Blvd., Mountain Home, TN). Military Honors to be accorded by the Bristol VFW. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. Online condolences may be shared with the family on our website, www.hathawaypercy.com.
