...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. Isolated higher gusts are possible in the higher elevations of southwest Virginia, especially in the afternoon hours. * WHERE...Portions of east Tennessee and southwest Virginia. * WHEN...From 8 AM to 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight A strong system will affect the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians tonight into Saturday. Strong to severe storms are possible tonight with damaging winds as the main concern, especially along the Cumberland Plateau and southern Tennessee Valley. A brief tornado is possible mainly along and near the Cumberland Plateau and southern Tennessee Valley. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible which may lead to localized flooding. Besides the storms, windy conditions are likely tonight, mainly along and west of Interstate 75 and especially in the Tennessee mountains and foothills.
