Hampton routes Humboldt to advance to semifinals

MURFREESBORO-Hampton Bulldogs moved closer to winning a state championship by blowing out Humboldt Vikings on Wednesday evening at the Murphy Center. Cadon Buckles would score 29 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 71-48 route over Humboldt. After falling behind 6-3, the Bulldogs would fight back, led by Buckles 13 points in the first to take a 22-12 lead. Hampton would extend the lead to 15 at halftime, 38-23, led by Michael Anspaugh with two 3-pointers. The Bulldogs would extend the lead to 17 at the end of the third and would outscore Humboldt 19-13 in the final period to take a 71+48 victory. Hampton, as a team, would shoot 51.9% from the field, proving too much for the Vikings. Buckles would lead Hampton with 29 points, followed by Anspaugh with 15 points and Carrico with 14 points. To round out the scoring for Hampton, Campbell, 6; Trivett, 4; Point, 3; Robinson, 2 and Hicks, 1. Fredrick Moore would lead Humboldt with 23 points.
With the win, Hampton will take on Chattanooga Prep on Friday, March 17, at 2:15 pm eastern.
