Carl Erick Hoaglin Sr., 76, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. He was born October 29, 1946 in Holyoke, Mass., to the late Frank M. and Mary Leona Willard Hoaglin. He had lived in Tennessee for the past four years.
Carl was a retired truck driver with Wal-Mart. Prior to that he was employed by the Tioga County, New York Sheriff’s Department. He loved to ride his motorcycle and loved NASCAR. He was a member of the New Newark Valley Fire Department, where he was a fire chief, and also the Emergency Squad.
Carl was a supporter of the NRA. He was of the Methodist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl E. Hoaglin Jr., and a sister, Marsha Stephens.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Johnson Dekin-Hoaglin; four step-children, Albert Dekin, Kelly Kassela, Kerry Brown and Kirsten Klanian; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Hoaglin; 13 grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Hoaglin.
It was his wish to be cremated and a memorial service will be held in New York at a later date.
