Kayla Clawson named as Principal of Keenburg Elementary

Carter County Schools names Kayla Clawson as the Principal of Keenburg Elementary. Kayla is returning to Carter County, where she previously taught nursing education at Unaka High School. She will be joining Carter County from Science Hill High School where she taught health sciences and was recognized as Teacher of the Year for Science Hill 2022-2023.

Ms. Clawson’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Milligan University, a Master’s in Secondary Education from East Tennessee State University, and an Educational Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University. She brings many years of experience in both nursing and education to her role as Principal of Keenburg Elementary.

Ms. Clawson shared, “I want to inspire those around me and lead by example, developing strong relationships with students, staff, and the community is of the utmost importance. I am committed to building a trusting culture and to provide a safe and encouraging environment where all students can experience success.”
