Lady Rangers and Lady Highlanders advance to semifinals

WASHBURN – The Lady Rangers traveled to Washburn on Friday night to take on the Washburn Pirates in Region 1 1-A Quarterfinals. Led by Lyndie Ramsey’s 29 points, the Lady Rangers leave Washburn with a 53-36 victory to advance to the Semifinal game against North Greene on Monday night at 7:30 at West Ridge High School in Blountville. The game would feature a shootout between Lyndie Ramsey, leading Unaka with 29 points and Braelyn Coffey, who finished with 26 points to lead Washburn. Ramsey would once again do most of her scoring at the free throw line hitting 17 of 21 free throws. The Lady Rangers would jump out to a 13-6 lead, but Washburn would close that lead to one point at halftime. Unaka would outscore Washburn 11-8 in the third period to stretch its lead to ten, 31-21. Ramsey would explode in the fourth period with 13 of the Lady Rangers 22 points to close out the game.
To round out the scoring for Unaka: Emma Taylor, 8; Katlyn Dugger, 5; Lauren Lund, 3; Haley Taylor, 3; Alisha Harrell, 3 and Keyona Hague, 2.
Cloudland 48, Cosby 34
COSBY – The Cloudland Lady Highlanders advance to a semifinal matchup against Hampton on Monday night after traveling to Cosby on Friday night, taking a 48-34 win in the quarterfinal matchup. Ella Benfield would lead Cloudland with 15 points followed by Ryan Turbyfill with 13. The Lady Highlanders gave Hampton its first loss earlier in the season and look to duplicate the same thing on Monday night at West Ridge High School in Blountville at 6 pm.
