Man charged with aggravated burglary, burglary of motor vehicle; bond set at $30,000

JONESBOROUGH – On Feb. 14, Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Joseph Hatley, 32, of Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated burglary and burglary of a motor vehicle.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a burglary in the 600 block of Rockingham Road. The victim had arrived home to find items from the home on the porch and the suspect running from the residence.
The victim gave deputies a description of the suspect and deputies began a search of the area. Within a short time, deputies observed a man matching the description at the corner of Boring Chapel and Crouch Road. The suspect, later identified as Hatley, was in the process of breaking into a storage box on a vehicle. Upon searching Hatley, deputies found items stolen from the home as well as a knife.
Hatley was transported to the Washington County Detention Center without incident. His bond is set at $30,000. He was set to appear in Sessions Court at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.
