A Carter County man listed on the sex offender registry was arrested Thursday on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Steven Thomas Gregg, who lives at 3045 Siam Road, was being held on a $10,000 bond in the Carter County Detention Center.
The arrest came after an investigation that began Jan. 25, when CCSO Investigator Jenna Markland received a cyber tip from the National Center of Mississippi and Exploited Children, according to the sheriff’s department.
The tip referenced an image of child pornography that had been shared online from an IP address in Carter County. During the investigation, it was determined that the IP address linked to that image belonged to Steven Thomas Gregg.
During the investigation, it was also determined that Gregg is currently listed on the Sex Offender Registry after being convicted in 2016 of criminal attempt to commit sexual exploitation of a minor.
