Charlie Stark Isakson, 71, of Elizabethton, entered into his heavenly home from VAMC on Sunday, February 5, 2023. He was a native of Carter County and the grandson of the late Iona (Isakson) Maltba.
Charlie was a 1980 graduate of ETSU and a United States Air Force veteran. He attended First Christian Church in Elizabethton. He was a member of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge #1847 and a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F&AM.
Charlie was an avid Civil War history buff and enjoyed fishing.
Those left to cherish his memories include the love of his life, Kathy “Kate” (Davenport) Isakson, of the home; two “bonus” children, Kenny (Jackie) Laughters of Peterborough, N.H., and Scott Laughters of Johnson City; and five grandchildren, Annabelle, Cohen, Drew, Libby and Joy Laughters. Charlie also leaves behind his best friend and “brother,” David Burleson.
A service to honor the life of Charlie Stark Isakson will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 9, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral & Cremation Services, with Michael Klaus, minister, and Kenny Laughters, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kenny and Scott Laughters. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Steve Dunlap, Rocky Davenport, Mike Sansom, Andy Sellers, Steve “Cooter” Kaylor, Greg Mathes, Steve Curran and Everett Smith. Andy Wetzel Sr. will serve as honorary pallbearer. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the East Tennessee Children’s Home & Academy, P.O.
