JOHNSON CITY – After inking nine during the early December signing period, ETSU football head coach George Quarles and his staff announced they have landed eight more Buccaneers on Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
Coach Quarles met with the media to announce the Buccaneers’ signing class.
“We are excited about this group of signees – not just because they are a great group of players – but they are great people,” said Quarles. “It’s important that we get high-character players that are used to winning and do what is asked of them. We have players in this class that are used to winning and playing in state championship games. Those guys are hard to beat. We want guys who are going to be winners in our program both on the field and in the classroom, and guys who know what it takes to be successful. Overall, we addressed a lot of needs, but we are still going to be out there looking for a few more players who can help make an immediate impact to the program.”
This group of eight signees includes three from Ohio, two from Georgia, and one each from Tennessee, Louisiana and South Carolina.
The positional breakdown consists of six on the defensive side of the ball and two offensive players. On defense, there are two linemen, two linebackers and two defensive backs, while the offense brought in features a lineman and running back.
