The last time that Elizabethton and Sullivan East met on the hardwood at the Dyer Dome in Bluff City, the two teams duked it out to a three overtime, 105-104 Elizabethton win.
It wasn’t going to be a repeat when the Patriots made a trip to Elizabethton with one thing in mind and that was closing out the contest and not giving the Cyclones an inch of possibility to take another regular-season win as the Patriots won by 10 points, 68-58.
Just like in the first meeting, it was the Drake Fisher show as Fisher was scoring inside and out, leading his team with a game-high 24 points.
The sharpshooter had plenty of help as Tyler Cross finished with 19 points and Jacob Witcher also played a. contributing role reaching double figures with 12 points.
Elizabethton once again fell behind and spent most of the contest playing catchup as they drew to five points at one point in the third quarter before East went on another spurt that put the game out of reach.
Dalton Mitchell once again led the Cyclones offensively by pumping in a team-high 20 points. Will Churchill hit 2-of-3 from behind the arc and finished with 12 points in the contest.
Mason Ball, who torched the Patriots for 33 points in their first meeting, was held at bay with 12 points in the rematch. Nate Stephens (6), Andrew Barnett (6), and Luke Whaley (2) closed out the scoring for the Cyclones.
