Glenda Carol Holt, 71, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband and daughter on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton, Tenn., surrounded by family. Glenda was born and raised in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Ivan Earl Shoun and Ina Oliver Shoun. She loved to have her toes in the sand at the beach, go on vacations, and doted on her dogs and grandchildren.
Glenda was a 1969 graduate of Unaka High School. She retired from the Mayflower Restaurant, where she worked for 20 plus years. She loved and kept in regular contact with her Mayflower family.
Glenda loved big and lived big! She was adventurous, fearless, and lived life to the fullest. Her kids and grandkids were everything to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Byrl Darrell Holt, and her loving daughter, Tammy Michelle Arrowood, and not to be forgotten her precious Dixie, and other loving life companions that went before her.
Those left behind to cherish her precious memories are her brother, Rex Shoun (wife Lois) of Elizabethton, son, Brian Smith (wife Betty) of Elizabethton, granddaughter, Brianna (fiancé Tyler Hubbard) of Elizabethton, grandson, Austin Arrowood (wife Heather) of Oklahoma City, Okla., grandson, Josh Wills (wife Megan) of Elizabethton, Tenn., her stepchildren, Richard Holt of Elizabethton, Sheila Holt Ballard (husband Lenair) of Fredericksburg, Va., granddaughters, Amber Little of Elizabethton, Hannah Holt of Fredericksburg, Va., grandson, Cody Holt of Elizabethton, granddaughters, Krystal Ballard and Ireland Ballard of Fredericksburg, Va., and Liam Ballard of Richmond, Va., six great-grandchildren, Jayden, Karlee, Carl, Legend, Hayden and Silas, her cousin and close companion, Patsy Turner; several in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, loving and caring friend, Edward Smith, a special family friend, Mellisa Khaler, and several lifelong friends. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Rebel “Reb.”
A service to celebrate the life of Glenda Carol Holt will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, January 21, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, by Pastor Jerry Agan of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton, Tenn., Life Care Services of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Avalon Hospice of Bristol, Va., especially RN Cierra, for the loving care given to Glenda during her illness.
