Elmer Randolph Gobble, 78, Hampton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born to George Robert Gobble and Edna Sarah Felts in 1944.
Elmer was a lifelong resident of Carter County and attended Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard for eight+ years. He retired as a machine operator after working 28+ years for Inland Container. He loved woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Cynthia Jean Gobble; children, David Gobble, Jeff Gobble, Larry Gobble (Donna) and Emily Russell; grandchildren, Joshua Deloach, Dustin Gobble, Nicholas Deloach (Taylor), Christopher Deloach (Jazmine), Savannah Stevens (Brandon) and Ryan Peters; great-grandchildren, Laci Gobble, J.B. Highsmith, Aiden Gobble, Carter Deloach, Casick Deloach and Isla Deloach; sister, Jane Tucker (Dean); brothers, Ricky Felts (Detra) and Mike Felts (Rosie); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, June Waycaster, Wanda Carr and Cindy Deloach.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 21, at Sunset Freewill Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gary Whitehead and Pastor Terry Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be David, Larry, Jeff, Joshua, Dustin, Nicholas and Christopher.
