The following arrests have been reported by the Johnson City Police Department:
On December 30 at 1:36 p.m., Jason Tennant was taken into custody by the Johnson City Police Department on charges of theft over $10,000 and contractor fraud. The arrest stems from Tennant agreeing to complete a job for the victim. The two signed a contract and Tennant was paid $10,650 up front. Over a year later, with the exception of pressure washing, work was never started. Tennant ignored several demands from the victim for a refund of his money.
Tennant turned himself in to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is held on a $2,500 bond. Tennant’s arraignment was on Jan. 3 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Jan. 3, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Weston George, Telford, and charged him with possession of stolen property ($2,500-$10,000) and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
At 8:34 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Lamont Street due to a neighbor observing a silver Toyota 4runner backed into a parking spot, with a male individual asleep in the driver’s seat. Once on scene, officers recognized the Toyota 4runner as the suspect vehicle from a motor vehicle theft and auto burglary.
A check of the Toyota’s VIN number confirmed it being stolen out of Telford and George was subsequently taken into custody. While processing the vehicle, officers located a handgun and a box of ammunition in the passenger seat. It was later discovered George was a convicted felon.
George was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond. Arraignment was on Jan. 4 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Jan. 4, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Ronald Bernier, Johnson City, and charged him with second-degree murder.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 3, officers responded to 1927 Lone Oak Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 32-year-old Elijah Berry deceased. The investigation revealed that Bernier and Berry were involved in an altercation, which resulted in Bernier shooting Berry, killing him. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
Bernier was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond. His arraignment was on Jan. 4 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
