In a statement from the City of Elizabethton, the TVA has terminated the rolling blackouts. There is a possibility that it may occur again if circumstances require it. If needed the Elizabethton Electric Department has initiated an emergency loan curtailment plan. This plan includes rolling blackouts in 15-minute increments across the system. There are nine substations in the Elizabethton Electric System. This will be initiated throughout the Tri-Cities from electric systems that receive their power from the TVA. There is a strain on the electric grid due to the artic cold. In efforts to avoid a complete blackout for hours, the Elizabethton Electric System is being asked by the TVA to begin the incremental rolling blackouts at each substation one at a time for around 15 minutes. Everyone will lose power in increments of 15 minutes throughout the day.
