The following arrests have been reported by the Johnson City Police Department:
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested William Joiner, Gray, and charged him with theft of property (over $1,000).
The arrest is the result of a theft investigation that occurred in the 1900 block of Woodland Avenue in October 2022. Joiner was hired as a sub-contractor to complete small end jobs. Joiner was given $1,900, and various tools, to complete his first job, which was building a small deck. Joiner instead did not complete any portion of the job, and took the money. Joiner had no contact with his boss, and never showed back up to work.
Joiner was transported to the Washington County Detention Center on Dec. 7 where he is currently being held in lieu of a $2,500 bond. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Friday, Dec. 9, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Craig Waverek, Johnson City, and charged him with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and child endangerment.
At 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a check welfare of a man that had brought an infant child into the Mouse’s Ear nightclub, 1408 E. Main St. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the subject, Craig Waverek, and over the course of the investigation, officers determined that he had brought his one-year-old infant to the nightclub while already intoxicated. Waverek had attempted to purchase alcohol from the business. When he was denied, he became hostile with employees of the business and threatened to fight them while still holding his infant child. While attempting to place Waverek under arrest, he resisted officers, but was taken into custody. The child was placed in the custody of the Department of Children Services.
Waverek was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and child endangerment. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of an $11,500 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 9 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Friday, Dec. 9, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Donald Arp, Blountville, and charged him with burglary.
At 9 p.m., officers responded to a shoplifting at Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Road. Loss prevention employees observed Arp remove merchandise from its packaging and conceal it on his person. After he was detained, it was found that he had previously been trespassed from all Walmart stores.
Arp was placed under arrest for burglary. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 12 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Friday, Dec. 9, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested April Patterson, Butler, and charged her with burglary.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., officers responded to The Mall at Johnson City, 2011 N. Roan St., in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Officers made contact with Ms. Patterson inside Belk Women’s store. During the investigation, camera video revealed that Patterson had stolen and concealed several items from the store. It was also determined that she had been banned from the property after a previous shoplifting incident there.
Patterson was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center without incident. Patterson is being held on a $2,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 12 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Saturday, Dec. 10, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Brittany Fitzgerald, Johnson City, and charged her with aggravated domestic assault.
At approximately 3:19 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim being chased around the building by Fitzgerald. Investigation revealed that the victim and Fitzgerald were in a relationship and that during an argument Fitzgerald attempted to cut the victim with a knife. Fitzgerald was taken into custody a short distance away.
Fitzgerald was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 12 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Monday, December 12, at 9:15 a.m., Michael Needham was taken into custody by the Johnson City Police Department on charges of burglary (two counts), theft over $2,500 (two counts), vandalism under $1,000, and possession of an anti-theft device (two counts). The arrest stems from Walmart loss prevention reporting a shoplifting at 3111 Browns Mill Road and 2915 W. Market St., on January 15, 2021. Video surveillance showed Needham and another male enter the stores and break into jewelry cases at both stores. Walmart suffered a loss of $5,953 worth of items. Needham was arrested in Shelby County, Ky., in January 2021. He was ultimately transferred to Sullivan County, Tenn.
Needham was transferred from Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $43,000 bond. Needham’s arraignment was set for Dec. 13 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Tuesday, Dec. 13, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested David A. Cody, Marshall, N.C.., and charged him with felony shoplifting.
The arrest occurred after officers conducted an investigation into a felony theft that occurred on Dec. 12 at Northern Tools in Johnson City. Officers traced leads and were able to locate Cody, who was identified as the perpetrator of the theft.
Cody was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of a $2,500 bond. An arraignment was on Dec. 14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Tuesday, Dec. 13, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jeremiah A. Greenlee, Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated burglary, simple assault, Schedule II drug violation, and public intoxication.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded to the victim’s apartment and found Greenlee on the front porch, pinned on the ground by an involved victim. Greenlee had made entry into the apartment and woke both victims. They told Greenlee to leave the apartment and he refused. At this point, one of the victims tried to escort Greenlee out of the apartment, and Greenlee began to assault the victims. After Greenlee was taken into custody, 23.12 grams of cocaine was found in his belongings.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a 15,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
