Senior forward Cadon Buckles scored 17 of his game-high 24 points as Hampton held off Unaka 93-47 on Friday night at Van Huss/White gymnasium in conference basketball action. The Bulldogs led 24-12 after one period and extended to a 44-25 halftime lead.
“I thought the kids shared the ball well,” Bulldogs head coach Ned Smith said. “Michael Anspaugh had six assists, and defensively we pressured the ball and forced some turnovers. We got the ball up and down the court and closed out at the other end.”
Unaka (0-9, 0-2 conference) committed 22 turnovers and could not solve the Bulldogs full-court pressure all night. The ‘Dogs (5-1, 1-0) raced into the fourth quarter with a 70-36 lead and never looked back. Geno Carrico scored 13 points and Levi Lyons added 10 for the ‘Dogs.
For Unaka, Mason Wilson scored a team-high 14 points, along with post Marcus Shomaker.
