Lorena Renee (Garland) Layman, 56, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center. Lorena was born in Carter County to the late Arthur Willard Garland and Pauline Lewis Garland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Albert Williams.
Lorena was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and was loved by many. She loved people and loved getting to know them while working as a hair stylist for over 30 years. She loved spending time with family and in nature. Her passions were dancing, planting flowers and spending time with her only granddaughter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two beloved daughters, Sarah Hayes and Laura Hayes (Collin Kissoon); her granddaughter, Violet Willow Floyd; two sisters, Nelda Bennett and Kathy Nave; and three brothers, Eddie Blevins, Condon Williams and Larry Williams. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
A service to celebrate Lorena’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 4, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Brandon Young officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12 to 1 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Friends may also visit the family at the home at any time. The graveside service will follow in the Wilson Cemetery (Stoney Creek Community). Active pallbearers will be Ricky Townsend, Titus Hayes, Garrett Bennett, Hezekiah Crocker, John Diamond, John Woodby, Draven Townsend, Tony Nave and Condon Williams.
