To the Editor:
As I read a Letter to the Editor in the Nov. 19/20 Elizabethton STAR written by D.D. Nave, I was taken aback. First, he wrote: “…the ‘red wave’ you were expecting is actually fire and brimstone coming down out of Heaven in judgment on the evil nation we live in…” This has to be the most pessimistic and negative assessment of our country’s existence. I personally believe, as do many Americans, the USA is the last, best hope for our world.
Mr. Nave further stated that “The Republican platform is clearly more pleasing to God and more pro-life.” He should be reminded that, in the last two national elections, there was no Republican platform.
Finally, he went on to say that “All candidates should work for unity in our community…” What about the “unity message” to which he made reference? Obviously, Mr. Nave feels that anyone who disagrees with his negative and pessimistic views of America or politics, is going to Hell.
Sincerely,
Edwin Alexander
