Hampton was dominant in all phases on Saturday afternoon as both the boys and girls teams took easy wins over Jellico at Van Huss/White gymnasium. The girls got 22 points from Madison McClain and 20 from Macy Henry and took a 93-25 win, while the boys saw four players in double figures as the Bulldogs took a 98-59 win.
Junior Hayden Campbell and Michael Anspaugh each had 17 points to lead the way for Hampton (1-1 overall), with Campbell also taking down 11 rebounds. The ‘Dogs opened with their defensive effort forcing ten first-quarter turnovers as Hampton ran off 31 points in the stanza while giving up just seven.
“We came out running tonight and played good defense,” Bulldogs head coach Ned Smith said. “Hayden got 11 rebounds and played good defense in the post. Made several players change their shots. When we play good defense, it makes for a good day.”
The ‘Dogs raced to a 57-21 halftime lead but the Blue Devils made a run in the third period, outscoring Hampton 28-21 in the quarter as Carson Bolton scored 12 of his game-high 21 points.
“He is a good athlete,” Smith said of Bolton. “He takes it to the hole almost every time.”
Isaac McNeely added 14 points to the Jellico line score and senior post Raymond Jeffers scored 9. For Hampton Chance Point and Caden Buckles each scored 14 points.

Senior Linzy Jenkins led a solid defensive effort that saw the Lady Bulldogs force 28 turnovers in a run-away win. Jenkins scored 18 points as well and was praised by head coach Brandon Carpenter saying, “Jenkins sets the tone for us defensively. We came out determined to set the tone in our favor and we did that. We got a few turnovers early and we feed off our defense.”
The Lady Bulldogs took a 37-10 first-quarter advantage and never looked back. Hampton (1-0 overall) led 67-18 at halftime and played to a running clock in the second half. Emilee Morgan led the Lady Blue Devils with 11 points.
