Juvenile injured in early morning hunting accident

JONESBOROUGH — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency are investigating an early morning hunting accident.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, WCSO deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:33 a.m. to the 1700 block of Boones Creek Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the juvenile was injured when his rifle accidentally discharged as he was climbing into a tree stand.
Johnson City/Washington County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the juvenile to an area hospital for treatment.
TWRA is now the lead agency in the investigation.
