Margaret Louise “Peg” Anderson, J.D., 74, formerly of Shady Valley, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Sebastopol, Calif., passed away peacefully November 3, 2022 at Sycamore Springs Senior Living in Elizabethton of complications from a fall.
A victim of Alzheimer’s Disease in her later years, Peg lived an adventurous life: being admitted to law school without a bachelor’s degree; being the only woman to drive a stock car at her local northern California raceway; studying Gaelic language inspired by her extensive travel in Scotland; miraculously recovering from a cerebral aneurysm nearly two decades ago; and serving as a maverick in offering and advocating for collaborative practice within her specialty of family law. She was a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis R. Anderson Jr. and Jean M. Anderson, and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy O. Anderson and Lane A. Anderson.
Her survivors include two brothers, Lewis R. Anderson III, Yuma, Ariz., and the Rev. William M. Anderson, Shady Valley; a sister, Harriet E. Anderson (Theodore “Skip” Dawson), Madras, Ore.; three nephews, Lewis R. “Rob” Anderson IV (Grace), San Diego, Calif., the Rev. William L.M. Anderson (Erica) and Schuyler A. Anderson (Faith), both of Nashville, Tenn.; one niece, Alice A. Bohn, J.D. (Austin), Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grand-nieces, Cordelia L.J. Anderson and Lane H. Anderson, both of Nashville, Tenn.; and a longtime canine companion, her prized yellow Lab, Duncan.
Peg’s family is grateful for the compassionate care she received from staff of Sycamore Springs’ Memory Care Unit and Amedysis Hospice. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of her family, following a private family committal. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
