Chairwoman Holdren calls for special meeting of the Commission to decide on $5 pay raises

Carter County Commission Chairwoman Ginger Holdren has called a special meeting of the Carter County Commission for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27,  at the Courthouse, to address the vote by the Budget Committee to approve a $5 per hour pay raise across the board for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office patrol and corrections employees.
The Budget Committee voted unanimously on Tuesday night to pass the $5 per hour pay raise and send it to the full commission. The Budget Committee will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at the courthouse to discuss ways of funding the pay raises.
The meeting will take place in the main courtroom of the Carter County Courthouse located at 801 E Elk Avenue, Elizabethton.
