Johnson City woman charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution

JONESBOROUGH – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office charged Taylar L. Hayes, 31 of Johnson City, with Introduction of Contraband in a Penal Institution.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies discovered multiple anomalies on a body scan while booking Hayes into the facility. The suspect was found to have one bag containing several blue and white pills, a second bag containing a white powdered substance and a third bag of a purplish blue substance.
The unknown substances, believed to be Schedule II drugs, were collected and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for identification.
Hayes is being held on a $5,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center and scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
