On October 4, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Susan D. Jordan, 58, Johnson City, and charged her with burglary and theft from a building.
At approximately 7:42 p.m., officers responded to 3111 Browns Mill Road in reference to a trespasser. The caller reported that Jordan, a repeat offender at this location, had taken items and had been previously trespassed from the business.
Officers placed Jordan under arrest and transported her to the Washington County Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. Arraignment was on October 5 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On October 5, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Carrie A. Witt, Kingsport. Witt is charged with burglary and shoplifting (theft of property).
The arrest occurred after officers responded to a call in reference to subjects shoplifting at Walmart on Browns Mill Road. After further investigation, it was determined that Witt was previously trespassed from Walmart and was discovered to have concealed approximately $51 of Walmart property.
Witt was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is currently being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. An arraignment was scheduled for October 6 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On October 5, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Hannah Shepherd, Liberty Church Road, Johnson City, and charged her with manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substance (Schedule IV) and simple possession/casual exchange (Schedule VI). At 11:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Roadrunner at 607 Twin Oaks Drive to assist medical personnel. Officers arrived to find a white female unconscious in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. She was evaluated and cleared by medical on scene.
During the course of the investigation officers uncovered multiple drug articles both on her person and in her vehicle. In addition to the drug articles, a drug ledger was uncovered detailing the sell and distribution of narcotics. Shepherd was placed under arrest and charged with manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substance (Schedule IV) and simple possession/casual exchange (Schedule VI). She was then transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was on October 6 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On October 6, at approximately 1 p.m., the Johnson City Police Department arrested Matthew Tolley, Chuckey, charging him with burglary and theft under $1,000.
This arrest stems from the investigation of a theft that occurred at the Days Inn Motel in Johnson City on September 25. It was discovered that Tolley went inside the business, entered the area behind the front desk, and stole $380 from the register.
On October 6, Tolley was placed under arrest and booked into the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $3,500 bond. Tolley’s arraignment was on October 7 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On October 6, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Thomas Garland, Johnson City, and charged him with felony shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 7:27 p.m. on October 6, officers were dispatched to Walmart, 2915 W. Market St., in reference to a larceny call. Officers observed, on the store’s surveillance system, Garland take a felony amount of merchandise and pass the final point of sale. Garland left the business on foot and was located a short time later in the immediate area.
Garland was placed under arrest and charged with one count of felony shoplifting and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and is being held on a $3,500 bond. Arraignment was on October 6 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On October 6, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jeffory A. Buckingham Jr,, charging him with auto-burglary and theft under $1,000.
The arrest comes as a result of an investigation into a mandolin that was stolen from a vehicle that was parked at 105 West Main St., Johnson City, on September 16. It was determined the mandolin was sold to a local pawn shop the same day it was stolen from the victim’s vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, Buckingham Jr. was developed as the suspect that took the mandolin from the victim’s vehicle.
Buckingham Jr. is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on separate, unrelated charges. Buckingham Jr. was served with a warrant charging him with these additional offenses. He remains at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $2,500 bond. At this time, his next court appearance is pending.
On October 7, at approximately 12 p.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a male juvenile, charging him with possession of a weapon on school property. The arrest was the result of an investigation into an incident in which the juvenile knowingly brought a knife to school. The juvenile was arrested via citation and released into the custody of his parent. The juvenile has a preliminary hearing set for November 4 at 9 a.m. in Johnson City Juvenile Court.
On October 7, at 3:38 p.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash that involved serious injuries on E. Main Street at Fleming Road. Upon arrival, officers found that a 2004 Saturn Vue was traveling west on E. Main St., crossed over the double-yellow line into the eastbound lane, and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado head-on. Both drivers were transported to the JCMCH. The driver of the Saturn Vue, Lori Gross, Johnson City, received life-threatening injuries and is stabilized but in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, Joseph Webb, Johnson City, received life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.
The investigation is being conducted by the Johnson City Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team.
On October 8, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Sarah Metcalf, Johnson City, and charged her with identify theft and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
On October 8, officers were dispatched to a trespasser and possible shoplifting at 429 N. State of Franklin Road. Prior to officer arrival, the store clerk advised that a white sedan left the scene. Officers located the sedan and conducted a traffic stop. Metcalf was the driver of the vehicle and during the investigation she used a false identity and was in possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.
Metcalf was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. Arraignment was on October 10 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On October 8, investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Charles Wyatt, Johnson City, and charged him with five counts of identity theft, five counts of fraudulent use of a debit card, and one count of theft (under $1,000).
The investigation revealed that Wyatt took a debit card from Kroger on Sunset Drive. The following day he used the debit card at Walmart, 2915 W. Market St., and purchased $437 of merchandise. October 8, he re-entered the same Walmart and was identified by officers of the Johnson City Police Department. He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he was held in lieu of a $31,000 bond. He was arraigned on October 10 in Washington County General Sessions Court. At this time, Wyatt’s next court date is pending.
On October 11, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jordan L. Pierce, Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, interference with emergency calls, and two counts of violation of an order of protection.
At approximately 10:50 p.m., officers responded to the victim’s residence. She advised that Pierce, her ex-boyfriend, had entered her home without permission and assaulted her while she was holding her two-month-old child. Both she and the child are protected parties of an active order of protection against Pierce. During the assault, Pierce choked the victim around the neck with his hands and struck her head against a door. When the victim attempted to call police, Pierce knocked the phone from her hand in an attempt prevent the call to 911.
Police located Pierce in the basement of his home. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $70,000 bond. Arraignment was on October 11 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
