Lula Belle Hughes Davis, 84, Elizabethton, formerly of Lenoir, N.C., passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Hermitage Health Center. Mrs Davis had lived in Lenoir, N.C., until recently. She was born December 28, 1937 in Huntdale, N.C., to the late David and Grace Honeycutt Hughes.
Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Tipton Hill High School. She was employed with the FBI for a short time and retired from Bell Atlantic in Washington, DC after 35 years of service. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, Lenoir, N.C.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bobby James Davis, who passed away in 2011; a brother, Billy Hughes; and a sister, Bettie Young.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabethe and Shane Buckles, Elizabethton; one granddaughter, the joy of her life, Haley Buckles, Elizabethton; one brother, Raymond Hughes, High Springs, Fla.; and one sister, Peggy Pettingill, Johnson City. Several nieces, nephews and in-laws also survive.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Lula Belle Davis will be conducted at noon Saturday, August 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sam Craven officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
