An opening drive fumble by Unaka was quickly forgotten Friday, as the Rangers rebounded to capture a 28-12 win over the North Green Huskies.
On Unaka’s first drive, Jamol Blamo fumbled the ball deep in their own territory and Yeshua Vaught ran it in for a 2-yard score. Unaka defense prevented the two-point conversion, and Huskies took lead 6-0 at the end of the first.
The second quarter began with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Blamo, with Landon Ramsey running in the two-point conversion to give the Rangers an 8-6 lead.
North Green’s answering drive was thwarted when Ramsey intercepted the ball and ran it 48 yards back to the Huskies’ 30-yard line. After a couple of stalled drives for both teams, Blamo punched it in the end zone from six yards, followed by Ramsey running in the 2-point conversion. The Rangers led 16-6 at the end of the first half.
Blamo started the third quarter with a 30-yard run. Ramsey followed with several carriers, including the 10-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion carry, to give Unaka a 24-6 lead.
TJ Thomas’s 51-yard reception set up another touchdown run for Blamo and the two-point conversion run, also by Jamol, put the Rangers up 32-6 going into the fourth quarter.
Once again, Blamo started the quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run, his third TD run of the night. The conversion attempt failed, making the Ranger lea 38-6.
The Huskies scored another touchdown on a 6-yard run by Vaught. Another failed conversion left the final score at 38-12.
