Three Bucs named ITA Scholar-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. – Three ETSU men’s tennis student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes as the organization announced its academic awards on Monday, July 11, 2022.
Francisco Lamas (Maracay, Venezuela), Thiago Pernas (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Juan Sebastian Zabala (Guayaquil, Ecuador) all earned the prestigious academic honor in 2021-22. Lamas totaled a 3.64 grade point average this past academic year, while Pernas registered a 3.54 mark and Zabala added a 3.50 GPA.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
