June 24
At 10:20 p.m. officers of the Johnson City Police Department were dispatched to the area of 503 W. Main St., involving a suspicious male in a stolen vehicle that was reported earlier that evening. Officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle and the driver refused to stop. The vehicle was eventually stopped after the operator continued down the dead end road of Garden Drive. The driver was identified as Hector Flores. Flores was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he was charged with theft of motor vehicle and felony evading arrest. He was awaiting a court appearance in Washington County Sessions Court on Monday, June 27, at 1:30 p.m. with a total bond of $8,000.
Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Gary Williams of Jonesborough, charging him with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
At about 1:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1503 E. Unaka Ave., in reference to an unknown disturbance. After arriving on scene, officers located a male, later identified as Williams, at the end of an alleyway near 1503 E. Unaka Ave. Williams was uncooperative with police, and walked out into the street. As officers attempted to investigate and get Williams out of the street, he assaulted an officer before brandishing a knife. As Williams attempted to flee the scene, he was arrested by officers. While under arrest it was found that Williams was under the influence of an unknown substance. Williams was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $30,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on June 29 in Washington County Sessions Court.
Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Benjamin Jeremiah Riddle of Johnson City and charged him with aggravated assault domestic.
At 11:10 a.m. on June 15, officers were dispatched to report a domestic assault at 601 E. Main St. Officers collected a detailed account from the victim and a warrant was obtained charging suspect Riddle with aggravated assault. On June 24, Riddle was apprehended by the Elizabethton City Police Department. He was turned over to Johnson City authorities and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where the warrant was served. Riddle was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, with an arraignment set for Monday, June 27, in the Washington County General Sessions Court.
Johnson City Police Department arrested Aimee Phillips, 33, of Johnson City and charged her with arson.
The arrest comes as a result of an investigation into a fire that was intentionally set in an apartment of the John Sevier Center, 141 E. Market St. on April 26. The result of the investigation indicated the person that set the fire was Phillips.
Phillips was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Phillips was to be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. on June 24 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
June 25
Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Robert F. Carnella, Johnson City, and charged him with felony evading, driving on suspended (first offense) and speeding.
At approximately 3:13 a.m., officers observed a white sedan traveling 58 mph in a 40 mph zone on W. State of Franklin Road close to W. Walnut St. When officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, Carnella refused to stop. Carnella eventually pulled into a private driveway off W. Walnut St., where he was arrested. A driver’s license check showed that Carnella’s license is currently suspended.
Carnella was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held in lieu of a $3,000 bond. Arraignment was scheduled for June 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
June 26
At 7:40 p.m. officers of the Johnson City Police Dept. clocked with radar a 2016 White Ford Focus traveling eastbound on Interstate 26 going 98 mph in a 60 mph zone. As officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle it evaded officers. After a brief search of the area, the vehicle was discovered with the driver still in the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and was identified as Isaiah M. Martin, residing in Johnson City. Martin was placed under arrest and charged with reckless driving and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he was awaiting a court date of June 27 at 1:30 p.m. with a $5,000 bond.
