Elizabethton High School graduate Conner Johnson topped his final year as a Cyclone off in style on Tuesday as he captured the state title in the shot put and followed that up by finishing second in the discus.

Johnson who competed and was an All-State performer in 2021, recently signed as a preferred walk-on at the University of Tennessee where he will be competing in the shot put.

He was coached by long-time track coach Jim Presnell along with Mark Newman and Matt Campbell.
