Terry Ray Vanhuss, 56, Hickory, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the son of Brenda Hardin Vanhuss and the late Max Vanhuss. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Bernice Vanhuss.
He was a native of Elizabethton and a graduate of Unaka High School.
Terry was a truck driver and was employed by Houston Transportation. He enjoyed playing softball and golf.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Tina Martin Vanhuss; a daughter, Brittany Shaver and husband, D.L.; a son, Dustie Vanhuss; three grandchildren, Rayden, Lucas and Karleigh; and a special friend, Jimmy Street. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life service for Terry will be conducted Saturday, May 14, at 4 p.m. at Siam Baptist Church, 2414 Siam Road, Elizabethton, with Rev. John Peters officiating. Eulogy will be by Jerry Stout. Music will be provided by family and the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
