Midnight Gypsies performed at Covered Bridge Park for the Music & Miles half marathon Saturday.
Over 200 runners took the streets of downtown Elizabethton and the Tweetsie Trail for the second annual Music & Miles Half Marathon at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
And despite heavy overcast skies and cool temperatures, the enthusiasm and energy couldn’t be taken away from those ready to tackle the course.

Organized by The Goose Chase and sponsored by Elizabethton Federal Bank, the half marathon is a part of the trifecta of Goose Chase races with the Bluegrass and Haunted Half making up the other two races.
Stephanie Place Buchanan was the first to cover the full 13.1-mile course as she crossed the finish line in 1:20:29. Close behind was the first male finisher and overall second-place runner in Corey Henson who managed to run a 1:20:40.
The top ten were: Jeff King (1:22:39), Benji Cowden (1:28:27), Jerrad Daniels (1:30:44), Katie Lance (1:32:21), Andrew Harman (1:35:19), Andrew Campbell (1:37:23), Macy Carrier Gray (1:37:24), and Aaron Brooks (1:37:31).
The half marathon also included a four-person relay.
Your Mom’s 2nd Favorite Runners finished in the top spot finishing the full course in 1:37:34. The 4 Horsemen came in second with a time of 1:42:16 while Kick the Dust finished third in a time of 1:53:32.
Closing out the group was Small Town Girls (1:58:04), Grace Gang (2:07:44), Normal People Would Drive (2:09:40), Rosie’s Runners (2:19:03), Beartown Plan B (2:19:23), HMRC1 (2:19:49), Punk You Up (2:39:37), and Half-Century Runners (2:42:01).
In the two-person relay, 16 teams managed to cover the full 13.1 miles.
Fast and Faster finished first in a time of 1:28:27 with Twin it to Win it collecting second place in a time of 1:37:38.
F3: The Range took third place by clocking in with a time of 1:46:00.
Closing out the top ten were as follows: Staying’ Alive (1:46:32), Islands in the Stream (Hensley’s) (1:47:40), Scrambled Leggs (1:48:25), Sole Mates (2:00:50), Slow and Slower (2:05:37), Brooks and Dunn (2:09:46), and The Wizard Lizards (2:13:51).
