NASHVILLE — State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) today received the 2022 education award from the “Tennessee Education Trust” in recognition of his work on this year’s top ten policy and budget proposals that will advance educational equity and justice in Tennessee.
The Education Trust is a national leader in the movement for educational justice, providing partners in Tennessee with policy analysis, research and advocacy opportunities in both P-12 and higher education arenas.
Every legislative session, Tennessee lawmakers offer new ideas on proposed changes to programs and policies that touch the lives of millions of students across the state from preschools to higher education.
The Education Trust in Tennessee is proud to recognize the ideas that have the greatest potential to improve opportunity and access for students of color, students from lower income communities, students with disabilities, and English learners.
Sen. Crowe made the following statement:
“From an educational perspective, 2022 is a historic year that saw legislation such as TISA (Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement) act, as well as legislation improving and enhancing food access and security for students. These bills will provide great opportunities to ensure that districts and schools have the resources they need to succeed, particularly ones in rural areas serving students from low-income backgrounds, students who are English learners, and students with disabilities. I appreciate the work of the Tennessee Education Trust and I thank them for this award.”
