Although the skies were overcast, it didn’t take away from the excitement of over 200 kids along with their families for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and Elizabethton Parks and Rec Easter egg hunt at Cat Island Park on Saturday.
With hundreds of eggs spread over three different marked-off locations for different age groups, there were more than enough for all the excited youngsters that showed up to enjoy the egg hunt.
Gold eggs were scattered in the mix and those that found them were treated to an extra special prize afterward.
A special visitor to the egg hunt was the Easter Bunny and several children along with their parents took advantage of getting a photo taken to make the day even more special.
As the count down began, when the park and rec staff counted off the 30-second mark, there was no holding back the anxious children who had already spied out the eggs they were going for as they were off and running and within a matter of five minutes, the lawns were picked clean of the eggs that it took the staff two hours to put down.
It was a great way to lead into Easter Sunday where there will be more eggs to be found after church and a big Easter lunch for most.
