Cloudland traveled to Hampton as the Lady ‘Landers faced the Lady Bulldogs with beautiful weather and finally, no threat of rain.
Cloudland would explode in the first inning, scoring 13 runs in the first inning alone and rode the wave of momentum to a convincing 22-2 Watauga Valley Conference victory.
Six runs scored before Hampton managed to record an out on a ball hit by Izabella Christman allowed Hampton to get an out at second base.
Cloudland then added another 7 runs before the Lady Bulldogs would finally end the misery.
Hampton went scoreless until the third inning as the Bulldogs finally add 2 runs to the board.
Macy Henry would get a hit just out of the infield into center field driving in Abbie Lunsford who was walked earlier for the Lady Bulldog’s first score.
Bases would be loaded after Ryleigh Nickles was hit, giving Hampton another scoring opportunity. A rare errant pitch by Cloudland’s Karah Fields allowed the Lady Bulldogs another run scored.
This would be their only other score in the game as Cloudland proved to be too much for the host Hampton team. Fields would have a nice game with five strikeouts on the night.
The Lady ‘Landers were putting on a show offensively with Fields hitting four singles, Ryan Turbyfill recorded one, and Taylor Hicks banged out three hits.
Kendall Birchfield added a double, Ellla Benfield picked up a trio of hits with two singles and a double, and Sahara McKinney recorded a pair of hits with two singles.
Izabella Christman had a double while Layken Blair and Bethany Sluder each slapped a single.
Cloudland added two runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and another three in the fifth inning.
